The route takes you through several villages in the Rose Valley. You will be guided through a variety of Kasbahs, meeting locals along the way.
The people of the Berber villagers are known as the Amazigh and have an incredibly old culture. They have lived in the mountains since before Islam and the Arabs arrived. The villagers are extremely friendly and will be more than happy to spend time with tourists, teaching them how to make soup and bread. The villagers live in house built from mud and stone and live in large family groups.
Every year the villagers celebrate the Festival of the Rose- making it the best time of year to come to the valley. Taking place in Kelaat M’Gouna the festival celebrates the rose in all its various local forms. The festival features music, food and entertainment and brings life and enjoyment to the little village. The festival is held on a different date each year so get in touch with Treks Morocco for further information.
