Taste of Kasbahs

Discover the Kasbahs of Morocco and explore the buildings which make up its charming citadels. The traditional Kasbahs feature high walls, usually without windows and protect the city.

This 6-day tour begins in Marrakech, one of the great cities of the Maghreb and founded almost a thousand years ago. Situated on the edge of the Sahara Desert, this bustling city is full to the brim of street entertainment, shopping and local living. Famed for its pink pise palaces and framed by the snow-capped mountains of the High Atlas, the souks and street entertainment of Marrakech are renowned the world over.

Travellers will travel through the high Atlas to the gate of the Sahara, stopping at the village of Ait Benhaddou on the way. Ait Benhaddou is a fortified village along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. Inside the walls of the village are a half a dozen Kasbahs. It presents a great example of Morocco earthen clay architecture and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.

The tour then takes our travellers on a visit to the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate before taking them through the Draa Valley. Formed by a narrow ribbon of water from the High Atlas that occasionally emerges triumphantly into lush oases, the Draa Valley is a history log, green oasis in a dry, rocky landscape.

You will be delighted by the 4×4 excursion and the overnight experience in the Erg Chebbi dunes which boast the largest and still untouched major ergs of Morocco.
