For the trekkers who love a challenge reaching the peak of Toubkal Massif is perfect. This 6-day trek to the Toubkal Massif has great views, fresh air and plenty of villages for refreshment stops. The grand tour of Toubal Massif will involve climbing up to the highest summit in the Atlas range. Once acclimatised, for the fit, the trek up Toubkal’s summit is straightforward and rewarding. The views are immense from the summit, with sights across the expanse of the High Atlas and Middle Atlas, on a good day, trekkers can even see the Sahara and beyond.
The Toubkal Massif is the target destination of most people who come on our treks. Just two hours into the trek, clients reach trailhead villages and the main walking routes are easy to follow making it a great choice for all levels of walkers.
This 6-day trek will also offer a chance to meet friendly Berber villagers, and also witness the hustle and bustle of Marrakech where the tour begins. Famed for its pink pise palaces and framed by the snow-capped mountains of the High Atlas, the souks and street entertainment of Marrakech are renowned the world over. Be prepared to be amazed by snake charmers, scrubbed down in the local hammams and absorbed by the healthy mixture of European, African and Middle Eastern culture.
Berber Villages & Toubkal summit
This 6-day hiking through the Berber villages of the Atlas Mountains takes us through Walnut groves, terraced fields and beautiful waterfalls. We make a stop amidst the beautiful scenery to enjoy a picnic in a Berber village. Get a better insight into the local culture as we stay in a Berber home in the villages of Gliz and Tachdirt, see women at work in groves of almond and walnut trees and centuries-old terraced irrigated fields. Brace yourself for a steep climb to the highest peak in north Africa from where you can enjoy splendid views of the Atlas Mountains. This exhilarating tour shows you the hidden treasures of Morocco which many tourists never see.
Day1 : Marrakech – Imi-oughlad — Imsker – Gliz
We drive from Marrakech to Imi-oughlad to meet our team mule drivers, cook. We start our trek towards Imenane valley after loading the mules. Climb over Tizi n Lbour and down into to Imeskar village for Lunch. After lunch we then carry on across the small villages in the shadow of several huge walnut trees. After an easy climb without technical difficulties into village Tinghar we continue to climb towards the village of Tidili and the small village of Gliz.

Day2 :Gliz – Oukaimeden – Tizi n Addi – Tachdirth
Today’s climb takes us over Tizi-n-Oukaimden across a juniper forest then bypassing the Mountain of Okaimden (3,700m). Magnificent view over the Ousrtik Valley and distant peaks of Toubkal Massif along the way. Lunch shortly after the ski station, the highest in North Africa. At Tizi n Addi Pass we can enjoy beautiful High Atlas Tachddirt Valley, its splendid view of the mountains and the valley. An easy descent to our night lodging at Tachdirth.

Day3 : Tachdirth – Ikkis – Tizi n’Aguersiwal – Aguersiwal – Matat
After breakfast, we set off down the Assif Imnane Valley, passing through several Berber hamlets and thence up to the Tizi n’Ageursiwal (2,000m), through the pass and enjoying splendid views over the Atlas mountain range, then down following a mule track leading to the village of Aguersiwal forlunch. After lunch we hike to the village of Mattat for the night.

Day4 : Matat – Tizi Oudite – Azib n Tamsoult
We set off for a 6-hour trek after breakfast. Leave Matat Valley and get into another beautiful valley in the Toubkal Massif — the Azzadene Valley. Today’s climb will be through Tizi Oudite pass at 2,250m, then a mule path takes us down to Azzadene Valley passing through the Ait Aissa Village, Tizi oussm Village and into Azib n’Tansoult. Overnight in the Azib n Tamsoult mountain refuge at 2,300m.

Day5 : Azib n Tamsoult – Tizi Agelzim – Toubkal Refuge
Today’s hiking involves a fairly stiff climb through Ighouliden waterfalls out of the Azzadene Valley to the Toubkal Refuge over the Aguelzim Mountain pass at 3,560m. Lunch will be taken with spectacular views over the Atlas Mountain Range. Overnight in the Toubkal Refuge (Niltner Hut) where we likely have to share a bunk room with other trekkers.

Day6 : Toubkal refuge – Toubkal Summit – Toubkal Refuge – Imlil – Marrakech
Get up early to climb up Toubkal (4,167m) from where, clouds permitting, we can enjoy wonderful views over the Atlas Range and the Sahara Desert. Then a long way down the well-worn path back to Imlil passing by the mountain refuge on the way. This is a fairly long day with 8-9 hours of hiking, involving 900m up then almost 2,500m back down to Imlil! Back in Marrakech around 5.00pm.
