Full Day Excursion to Ait ben Haddou Kasbah From Marrakech In Morocco

This day trip is ideal for those who only have one day to spare to get a sneak peek of Moroccan Sahara Desert.

Take this day trip of 196Km across the High Atlas Mountains Range via Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260m). Visit the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site with its red-earth medieval village which appears to be frozen in time. Visit the Kasbah of Taourirt in Ouarzazate and its film Studios. The rocky Desert terrain of Ouarzazate has appeared in many feature films including Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven and Babel.

At 7am the driver meets you at your hotel/Riad in Marrakech. This is a full day trip from Marrakech to the mud bricks-built village of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO site classified since 1987. We pass through many Berber villages in the High Atlas Mountains while enjoying the magnificent views along the way before arriving at Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, located 4km off-road along the Salt Valley of Ounila.

The Journey takes us through breathtaking countryside via Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m). Our first sightseeing of the day is at Telouet, once a village on the ‘Route of Camel Caravans” from the Sahara Desert and over the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. Telouet has one of the most beautiful kasbahs in the High Atlas, which was once the residence and headquarters of the powerful Glaoui tribe.

We drive back to Marrakech in late afternoon.
