Depart from your hotel in Marrakesh at 8 am to the Ourika valley across the plain of Haouz. Explore the Berber villages along the valley. Then drive 30 km to Ourikka Valley. This is a unique part of the High Atlas.
Thanks to the Oued (river) close by, it offers a green scenery throughout the year, a far cry from the typical desert landscape in this region. This tour, not to be missed if you have a little time, allows yourself to discover the Atlas and its valley inhabited by Berber tribes. The furthest point, Setti Fatma, is 65Km South of Marrakesh.
The valley is punctuated by a string of douars (villages) attached to the hillside. Water is winding through the meadows everywhere, irrigating fields and orchards. Many of Marrakeshis have second home in Ourika Valley, or they stay in hostels or hotels when the temperatures in the city becomes too high. Setti Fatma, at 1,500m above sea level, is a pleasant village where you can walk around. The mountain trek leading to a cascade of 7 waterfalls is an absolute must do.
